BeltanE Market
Beltane / May Day in Glastonbury is something really special. On the 1st of May, the whole town comes alive — drums, dancing, flower crowns, and people gathering around the Maypole. There’s a real feeling of joy in the air, like everything’s waking up again after winter.
The sound of drums echoes through the streets as The Glastonbury Horde, (picture) a bold and eclectic gathering of modern Celts, march in procession, horns sounding as they make their way up the hill. Known for their raw, ritualistic performances, they bring a powerful energy to the day, often gathering to dance around the Maypole.
The High Street fills with movement, flowers, and community spirit, as locals and visitors come together to mark the turning of the seasons in true Glastonbury style.
As locals and visitors come together to honour the turning of the seasons. Our Outdoor Market will be in St Johns Grounds, offering a day full of live music, delicious food, and unique handmade stalls. It’s the perfect place to soak up the magic of Glastonbury, celebrate community, and welcome the bright energy of summer.
Road closers and travel information will be available closer to the event. Or check public notices from the Somerset Council. Information is often released in the weeks leading up to May Day. www.somerset.gov.uk/roads-travel-and-parking
